An interview with Mark Estee, Owner of the Reno Local Food Group which includes chez louie (not a participant), Cucina Lupo, Liberty Food & Wine Exchange, Overland Restaurant & Pub and The Union

What made you decide to get into the business of food/drink?

I love Hospitality.  I love to take care of people.  I would have been a butler if I did not get in this business!

Why Reno?

I am from Boston, then to Lake Tahoe for the Hyatt, then to Truckee for 10 years and now Reno and the Carson Valley.  I can be happy anywhere but Reno and the surrounding areas are magic and Iove it here!

Why are you excited for Reno Restaurant Week?

I see a great community coming together to support restaurants while also giving customers a great reason to eat out every night!

What is one thing you’d like your guests to know about you and/or your establishment?

We put our money back into the community by buying from so many local farmers, ranchers and producers.  Also, almost all the food you eat is handmade on the premises.

How are you complying with safety guidelines for COVID-19?

City, County, State, CDC and National Guidelines tell us what to do and we take it from there!
