An interview with Christina Savage, Owner

What made you decide to get into the business of food & drink?

Toby and I both have been in the industry since we were teenagers, I became a mom when I was 25 but before that I was in the restaurant industry and so it was always a dream of mine. I love the industry … there’s nothing better than the restaurant industry — the people you meet, how every single table is different, every person and every interaction is different and I love that.

When it came down to it, we were like what do we want to do and we decided why not!

Why Reno?

It checks off everything. Toby and I have been all over the place, we’ve been in Flagstaff, AZ, Sacramento, CA, back out East in Arkansas, MO and really Reno just has everything. It’s got mountains, the desert, Lake Tahoe, we get snow and warmth and we’re not far from our family in California.

The mentality here in the West is way more my style, I’m way more open and the people think the same way I do out here. It’s nice.

Hungry Note: The Savages moved to Reno January 1, 2020 and took over midtown eats on February 1, 2020. They lived in Fayetteville, Arkansas and put an offer in on a restaurant there, a full offer, and were turned down. Christina believes this was one of the first steps that lead them home — to Reno.

Why are you excited for Reno Restaurant Week?

Let’s get some people in here! I want to see all the participants and all the businesses in Midtown succeed and am hopeful that this business brings in some additional business for Midtown.

What is one thing you’d like your guests to know about you and/or your establishment?

We are new owners and were in business for only 45 days before the COVID shutdown.

How are you complying with safety guidelines for COVID-19?

It is a priority for us to ensure the safety of our staff and guests. We are complying in every way that we are required. We sanitize everything, our staff is required to wear masks and to practice frequent hand washing. We don’t leave things on the table. We adhere to social distancing protocols.
