An interview with Jennifer Thomas, Owner

What made you decide to get into the business of food & drink?

We started Keva Juice with a passion of healthy living and fun.  We were also frustrated because Gary had been laid off several times due to economic uncertainty.  We wanted a chance to build our own business and full-fill our own dream.  It hasn’t been easy and we have suffered significant hardship in making Keva work.  In 2009, we actually lived in the back of one of our stores during the Great Recession.  Today, our wonderful community has rallied behind our brand and we are extremely grateful.

Why Reno?

Reno is our home.  Gary and I met in Medford Oregon.  We moved around a bit, however, in 2001 we moved to Reno due to a job promotion.  After that company closed, we decided that we could create our own little piece of the American Dream — Keva Juice.

Why are you excited for Reno Restaurant Week?

We love supporting our community.  Reno has been wonderful to our employees, Keva Juice brand, and our family.  When we all stick together, we can thrive.

What is one thing you’d like your guests to know about you and/or your establishment?

We are not a franchise.  We are a locally family owned business.

How are you complying with safety guidelines for COVID-19?

Where do we start… The first thing we did was promote online delivery on curb-side pickup.  We optimized our website www.keva.com to ensure we were able to meet the customer on their terms.  We removed all seating, provided face masks to our team, require temperature checks before an employee starts their shift and instituted extra sanitization procedures.  The procedures continue to be fluid and we are adjusting as the demands of the Governor, CDC, and our customers require.
