Grand Sierra Resort and Casino (GSR) continued its longstanding partnership with the Food Bank of Northern Nevada by serving as the distribution site for the organization’s Mobile Harvest on Wednesday, April 1. The resort’s central location and large parking lot made it the perfect location to host a large-scale drive-through food distribution event while allowing workers and participants to observe the required six feet of social distancing space recommended by public health officials. More than 500 families from across the community came out to receive food.

“Our community shows its greatest strength and resiliency during our most challenging times,” said Shannon Keel, general manager for GSR. “While our doors are closed for now, our usual GSR hospitality remains steadfast and we are committed to supporting this community in any way we can. The Food Bank of Northern Nevada has always been a tremendous force in serving those in need throughout our region and we are proud to stand with them as they continue their important work that is needed now more than ever.”
