An interview with Mike & Wendi Rawson, Owners
What made you decide to get into the business of food/drink?
We love and appreciate wine, the sophistication of it and time is of no importance when drinking it with your friends. Sparks had no such establishment. We wanted to create an environment where you felt like you were away from home; a sense of being on vacation.
Why Reno? Actually, Why Sparks?
We both grew up in the Reno/Sparks area. We are proud native Nevadans and decided to dig our roots deeper. It’s important to us to bring this kind of establishment to Sparks. It’s growing and deserves to have its own identity.
Why are you excited for Reno Restaurant Week?
We have one year under our belt and people still don’t know where here. Mike and I have no restaurant experience; however, we’re receiving great reviews over our food. To partner with Hungry in Reno is a no-brainer. We’re excited for the exposure and to connect with our community.
What is one thing you’d like your guest to know about you and/or your establishment?
We have the gift of hospitality. Our number one focus is to provide excellent customer service. We want our guests to feel welcomed, relaxed and carefree.
How are you complying with safety guidelines for COVID-19?
While we already maintain a clean establishment, we have set up cleaning stations to help us be efficient on sanitizing each table after use. All employees wear masks and wash their hands more frequently than before. Our furniture has set 6 feet for proper distancing.
