An interview with Roy Brennan, Owner
What made you decide to get into the business of food & drink?
I was thrown into the business by my father when I was 18 as our family owned a tavern in New Jersey. I had already been doing grunt work there as a teenager. So 42 years later, there are very few jobs I have not done in hospitality including bars, restaurants, hotels and casinos!
Why Reno?
I moved to this area in 1990 to work at Harvey’s in South Lake Tahoe and I spent five years there while living in Carson City and Reno. I moved to Las Vegas for ten years and then, when an opportunity arose at the Peppermill, I moved back here.
Why are you excited for Reno Restaurant Week?
I believe this a great opportunity to showcase the vastly improved food scene to locals and visitors alike. With the Midtown construction almost complete and hopefully the COVID episode winding down, it is a great chance to help revitalize our economy.
What is one thing you’d like your guests to know about you and/or your establishment?
Beefy’s is the spot for great burgers, sandwiches and wings. We have awesome milk shakes and very large assortment of craft and imported beers as well as a nice wine list exclusively with half bottles to great with your food. Our staff is friendly and our food is tasty!
How are you complying with safety guidelines for COVID-19?
We clean and sanitize every day as well as after customer interactions. Staff is masked and social distancing is met by ordering and serving through a take-out window. At this time all dining at Beefy’s is “al fresco” or takeout. There is delivery through FoodJets.
