There’s something undeniably nostalgic about Dairy Queen®. For many of us, it conjures up memories of warm summer days, melting cones, and the pure joy of biting into a Blizzard® packed with your favorite candy mix-ins. And now, after a long absence (the last location that was in northwest Reno closed in 2018*), Dairy Queen is making its return to Reno with a brand-new location, ready to bring back those beloved treats and meals that have been a part of our lives for decades.

On Tuesday, October 1, head over to 18450 Wedge Parkway as Dairy Queen opens its doors in South Reno, offering a familiar menu filled with all the favorites you’ve been missing. To celebrate, the first 100 customers to buy a DQ® cake will receive a free single StackBurger™, once a week, for a whole year. That’s a year’s worth of delicious burgers—enough to satisfy any burger lover’s cravings.

For franchise owners Rajiv Paul and Vish Krishnan, this new Dairy Queen in Reno isn’t just another spot on their map—it’s a passion project. While they’ve already made a name for themselves with seven thriving Dairy Queen locations in Arizona, this Reno restaurant is special. Why? Because it’s the first one they’ve built entirely from scratch. Their Arizona locations? Acquisitions of already running businesses. But here in South Reno, it’s a fresh start, and they couldn’t be more excited to bring back a beloved brand to the area.

Vish, a Reno local for over 30 years, saw the perfect opportunity to plant roots with Dairy Queen in his own backyard. With South Reno growing rapidly, the timing couldn’t have been better. After crunching the numbers with Dairy Queen corporate, it became clear—this city was ready for a return to classic DQ goodness. So, Rajiv and Vish rolled up their sleeves and made it happen, creating a place where locals can indulge in nostalgia and enjoy all the treats that have made Dairy Queen a household name.

More than just a place to grab a burger or Blizzard, Rajiv and Vish want their Dairy Queen to be a part of the Reno community. That’s why they’ve partnered with Renown Children’s Hospital as part of Dairy Queen’s Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals initiative, helping to support children in need. With General Manager Jason Greenlee overseeing operations, they plan to stay connected to local events and schools, ensuring that Dairy Queen becomes a fixture in the community.

At the heart of every Dairy Queen is a menu that has stood the test of time. The Signature StackBurgers™, Chicken Strip Baskets, and of course, the legendary Blizzard treats are all here, ready to satisfy your cravings.

And when it comes to dessert, nothing hits the spot quite like an Oreo Blizzard. Each bite is a blast of crunchy cookies swirled into Dairy Queen’s famous soft serve. For the holiday season, be sure to try the Candy Cane Blizzard—a cool, minty treat perfect for getting into the festive spirit.

But Dairy Queen is about more than food—it’s about the experience. This new location has been thoughtfully designed to offer a welcoming atmosphere where you can take a moment to enjoy your meal. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite from the drive-thru, ordering ahead for easy pick-up at the mobile order counter, or sitting down with friends and family in the cozy booths or on the outdoor patio, Dairy Queen is ready to serve up smiles. And of course, don’t miss the chance to snap a photo with the 14-foot red DQ spoon—a playful reminder of the fun that Dairy Queen brings to every visit.
