Sometimes being Hungry in Reno is a tough job.
Nothing Bundt Cakes recently dropped off three Bundtlets for me to try: Confetti, Biscoff Cookie Butter and the new Apple Pie flavor.
Yes, I tried all three. It would have been rude not to.
Confetti is one of their classics, and it’s exactly what you want it to be: sweet, fun and loaded with those little pops of color.
But the two limited-time flavors were the reason for this particular cake tasting, and I definitely had a favorite.
Cookie Butter. Hands down.
If you’re a Biscoff person, you’ll understand immediately. The Biscoff Cookie Butter Cake has that warm, spiced cookie flavor paired with Nothing Bundt Cakes’ signature cream cheese frosting, plus cookie butter drizzle and a Biscoff cookie on top. It’s rich without being over-the-top, and mine disappeared embarrassingly quickly.
The good news is that Cookie Butter is back for a limited time. The bad news is that “limited time” means exactly what it sounds like, so I wouldn’t get too emotionally attached.
Then there’s the new Apple Pie Cake Pop-Up Flavor, available Sept. 14 through Sept. 27 while supplies last.
This one looks like fall decided to become a Bundt cake. It’s topped with apple pie filling and streusel along with that thick cream cheese frosting, and it is definitely the more traditional fall flavor of the two.
I liked it. I just liked Cookie Butter more.
And honestly, I appreciate being given Confetti alongside the seasonal flavors because it made this a proper three-cake taste test instead of me pretending I needed multiple bites of Cookie Butter strictly for journalistic purposes.
If you haven’t been to Nothing Bundt Cakes in Reno, the bakery is at 5051 S. McCarran Blvd. They make everything from the individual Bundtlets I tried to bite-sized Bundtinis, and full-size Bundt Cakes, with plenty of options for birthdays, celebrations, gifts or showing up somewhere with cake and immediately becoming everyone’s favorite person.
Nothing Bundt Cakes has grown quite a bit since it was founded in 1997. The Dallas-based company now has more than 840 bakeries across the U.S. and Canada and plans to reach 1,000 locations by 2027.
But you really don’t need the corporate history to justify cake.
You just need to know that Cookie Butter is back, Apple Pie is only here through Sept. 27, and both are available while supplies last.
My advice? If you’re going for one, get the Cookie Butter.
Actually, maybe get two. Limited time and all.
