Cucina Lupo, part of Reno Local Food Group owned by chef Mark Estee, opened in late 2019 in historic downtown Carson City. There Wolf (“lupo” means wolf in Italian) serves modern Italian dishes for lunch and dinner, plus a nicely edited list of Italian wines.
At the restaurant, ciabatta bruschetta is topped with jalapeño bacon jam. Creamy polenta is joined by cremini and local oyster mushrooms. Bone broth ups the savory with short rib ravioli. Tomato jam swipes the Lupo burger. Piedmontese braised short ribs are backed by a classic trio of carrots, mushrooms and onions.
